The hike to the top of the Sandia Mountains South Peak is a long hard journey. It took me 5 hours to make it to the top. This was after 6 weeks of intense training. It was hard work, but the rewards were some of the best views you will ever see. This was my journey journey to the top last week and these were some of the photos I took along the way.

Albuquerque was officially founded in 1706, more than 200 years before New Mexico gained statehood. In that time the city has seen many peoples. The Pueblos are the indigenous people of the area. Around 1540 the Spanish explorers arrived in the area as well. King Philip of Spain gave those explorers, who indeed became colonists, permission to form a city on the banks of the Rio Grande.
